For players
What is EZ PuttParty?
EZ PuttParty is one mobile app for keeping golf scores and exploring participating venues. Each participating course can offer its own colors, welcome screen, course details, challenges, announcements, and sponsors.
How do I open my course?
Scan the course's EZ PuttParty QR code with your phone. If the app is installed, choose Open in PuttParty. If not, use the App Store or Google Play link, install the app, and return to the venue page to open it. You can also enter the venue code in the app.
What if my venue isn't listed?
Use the Public experience or choose Find / Request My Venue in the app. Automatic discovery by ZIP code or nearby location is planned but is not yet available as a full venue directory.
Does scanning a QR code start my round?
No. The QR selects the venue experience first, so you can see course information and announcements. Then choose Start Round and add players.
Do I need an account to keep score?
The current demo supports score entry and local round progress. Requirements for leaderboard submission may differ; follow the prompts shown in the app.
What if the QR code doesn't open the app?
Open the QR landing page in your phone browser and tap Open in PuttParty. If that does not work, open the installed app manually and enter the venue code displayed on the page. Make sure the app is installed and updated.
Why did the app show the Public venue instead?
The venue may be inactive, expired, temporarily unavailable, or unable to load. Try again with an internet connection or ask the venue to verify its code and subscription. The app can fall back to Public.
Can I play without internet?
The app is designed to use previously saved venue information where available, but initial venue selection, fresh promotions, and online features may require internet. Do not rely on offline access until your venue has been loaded successfully at least once.
Why are some hole details or promotions missing?
The venue controls much of this content. If it has not supplied a hole image, par, tip, sponsor, or promotion, that information may be blank or shown as demo content.
How do I report a problem?
Contact EZ Interactive support and include your phone type, venue name or code, the screen involved, and a short description. Avoid sending payment details or private account information.
For venue customers
Do guests need a separate app for our venue?
No. Guests install the single EZ PuttParty app and select your venue through its QR code or venue code. Your venue branding and content are loaded dynamically.
What can our venue customize?
Depending on your configured venue package, you can customize venue name, logo, colors, banner, welcome content, website and contact details, hole information, promotions, sponsor ads, challenges, and selected feature visibility.
What does the venue QR code do?
It identifies your venue and opens a web landing page with an Open App button, app store links, and a fallback venue code. The same printed QR can remain in use as app-link handling improves.
Are App Store downloads and automatic return to the venue guaranteed?
No. The venue landing page provides links to the respective stores, but a first-time installation may require the guest to return to the landing page or enter the venue code. Seamless deferred linking is a planned improvement.
Can we manage content ourselves?
How quickly do edits appear?
The venue script reads the sheet when its endpoint is called, but the production website cache and the app's device cache can delay visible updates. The current website deployment log reports a five-minute cache refresh schedule; device caching may add further delay.
Can we run events, leagues, or sponsor campaigns?
The sheet supports announcements, challenges, and scheduled sponsor ads. Actual tournament management, leaderboard submission, and analytics capabilities depend on the deployed app and backend features; confirm those before promising them to guests.
Can we upload any image or promotion?
Only use content you have rights to publish. Public images should be reachable over HTTPS. Avoid inappropriate or misleading promotions, and do not publish confidential customer data.
Venue Manager: Google Sheet guide
Which tabs does the Venue Manager script expect?
Required tabs: settings, Venue_Experience, Venue_Content, ads, holes, challenges. Analytics or analytics is optional but recommended. Tab names and column headers matter.
How should I fill out settings?
Use a key/value table: column A contains keys and column B contains values. Common keys include venue_name, logo_url, primary_color, accent_color, neutral_color, banner_enabled, banner_text, banner_link_url, support_url, terms_url, privacy_url, ads_enabled, holes_enabled, and challenges_enabled. Colors should normally be six-digit hex values such as #173E32.
How do I update the venue welcome screen?
Edit the first populated data row in Venue_Experience for venue_id, venue_name, venue_tagline, logo_url, hero_image, welcome_title, welcome_message, course_description, website_url, phone, address, hours, and show_* feature switches. Use Venue_Content for welcome_title, welcome_message, todays_promotion, upcoming_event, upcoming_events, tournament_announcement, sponsor_spotlight, and leaderboard_announcement.
How do I add or schedule an ad?
In ads, keep the original headers active, image, headline, cta, url, starts_at, ends_at, weight. Optional columns are ad_id, sponsor_name, placement, notes. Set active to TRUE; use a public HTTPS image URL and destination. Leave start/end blank for no date restriction. Future starts and expired ends are excluded from the published JSON. Weight is limited to 1–10.
How do I assign ad IDs?
Open the spreadsheet's PuttParty Venue Manager menu and choose Prepare Ad IDs. It adds an ad_id column if missing and generates UUIDs for blank IDs without overwriting existing ones.
How do I edit holes?
Use the holes tab with exact headers hole, par, yards, label, tip, imageUrl. Provide one row per hole. Hole number is required; par and yards are converted to numbers. If exact course data is unknown, leave it blank rather than invent it.
How do I edit challenges?
Use challenges headers category, title, description, videoUrl, active, weight. A category and title are required for the challenge to be returned. active defaults to TRUE when blank; explicitly set FALSE to hide a challenge. Weight is limited to 1–10.
How do I edit analytics?
How can I check my sheet before publishing?
Use PuttParty Venue Manager → Validate Venue. It checks required tabs and headers, venue identity, color formatting, ad URLs, and ad date ranges. Correct errors and review warnings before demonstrating.
What does Show Publish Status mean?
PuttParty Venue Manager → Show Publish Status reports the venue name and ID, currently eligible ads, holes, and active challenges from the Google Sheet. It is NOT confirmation that the website cache or phone has refreshed.
Why doesn't my change appear in the app?
First run Validate Venue, then Show Publish Status. Confirm the correct venue_id and that the Apps Script web-app deployment is current. Allow for website/device caching. If an ad is missing, check active, headline/image/URL, and date range. If the entire venue is missing, contact the administrator to check the master resolver and subscription.
Do I need to deploy Apps Script after every edit?
Ordinary spreadsheet data edits are read by the already deployed web app. Changes to the Apps Script code itself generally require updating its web-app deployment/version. The deployed /exec URL must match the venue_webapp_url in the Business Template.
How is the web app deployed?
The supplied script specifies Deploy → Web app, Execute as Me, Who has access: Anyone. Its /exec URL belongs in the Business Template venue_webapp_url field. The administrator should handle deployments and master registry updates.
What must never go in the sheet or script?
Do not put Stripe secrets, API keys, webhook secrets, passwords, private customer information, or sensitive analytics into public-facing sheet fields or Apps Script output. The doGet endpoint is public; assume anything it returns can be read by anyone.
Why is there a difference between the sheet and the live app?
The Google Sheet is the content source, Apps Script produces JSON, the website may cache that JSON, and the phone may retain a last-good copy. A successful sheet validation does not prove the production cache has been updated.
Can I manage the advanced AWESOME fields here?
The provided Venue Manager v2 script publishes the core settings, experience, content, analytics, ads, holes, and challenges contract. Advanced courses, tees, amenities, events, promotions, sponsors, and CTA tables require a separate compatible endpoint implementation; do not assume this v2 script publishes them.
Email [email protected] with the venue name or ID and a description of the issue. Venue managers should include the validation error or warning, if available.
For developers
What is the PuttParty architecture?
PuttParty uses a shared iOS/Android application, a master venue resolver, venue-specific Google Sheets and Apps Script sources, and a hosted JSON cache. This supports venue-specific content without requiring a separate app per venue.
Can external systems be connected?
Venues can configure supported Digital Services links such as tee times, GPS, events, promotions, membership and venue applications. Additional integrations require technical review and compatibility testing.
How are app and venue updates coordinated?
Existing public JSON contracts, venue IDs, QR behavior and Public fallback must remain compatible. Venue Manager and publishing improvements are planned as incremental, versioned releases with testing and rollback.
Are management endpoints or private analytics public?
They must not be. Public venue payloads should contain only approved display data. Authenticated, venue-scoped access is required for private reporting and future web portal features.
Can I access a public API or developer credentials?
No general-purpose public developer API or self-service credentials are advertised. Contact [email protected] to discuss a specific integration.
Venue Manager dashboard and privacy
Is the new Venue Manager dashboard available now?
A Google Sheets-based Venue Manager v3 is planned in phases, starting with guided editing for ads and sponsors, course details, challenges, Digital Services, and branding. A secure web portal is a later phase; availability must be confirmed with EZ Interactive.
What will venue managers be able to do?
The planned dashboard provides guided tools to manage permitted venue content, review validation warnings, preview edits, and check publishing status. Billing, venue activation, directory approval and platform deployment remain EZ Interactive administrative responsibilities.
Does saving an edit mean guests see it immediately?
No. Content may need to pass source validation and a separate server cache refresh before appearing in the app. The planned dashboard will distinguish saved changes from confirmed live publication.
Who can see venue information?
Guests may see approved public course information, promotions, and sponsor creative. Venue business records, internal notes, private contacts, billing and manager-only analytics must not be published in public venue JSON.
Is hiding a Google Sheet tab sufficient security?
No. People with spreadsheet edit access may be able to unhide tabs. Sensitive information must be kept out of broadly shared sheets and public endpoints. The future authenticated portal is designed for stronger role-based access.
What analytics are available to venue managers?
The architecture includes an analytics roadmap, but authenticated, reliable venue-private reporting is not yet established by the supplied materials. We will not represent planned metrics as currently available.
Who controls venue advertising?
Participating paid venues manage their own venue-specific advertising opportunities, subject to their agreement and applicable requirements. EZ Interactive manages advertising in the Public/default experience.
How does PuttParty approach guest privacy?
Public venue content and private management data are separated by design. Location and optional player information should be handled according to the published Privacy Policy and applicable permissions. We avoid promising that data is anonymous or never collected without technical verification.
